One of the reasons why we have started our blog is to create a space where we can pass on some of our favourite things to do in Perth.  So, I thought I’d kick things off with a few of my personal picks around the Fremantle area.

I’m a massive fan of anything to do with the water, always have been. So I’m in my element here in Perth with both the beautiful waters of the Indian Ocean, and the majestic Swan River right on my doorstep. With this in mind I thought my tips today should involve venues that lend themselves to a quick dip in between activities, so here goes…

Let’s kick the day off with brekky at the Naked Fig in Swanbourne. I’ve always enjoyed the food down there, and although you often have to queue for a table, the view across the ocean is well worth it, not to mention the mandatory ocean swim when your done with your pancakes.

Continuing with the nautical theme, I’ll then get you to jump on board one of the river cruises that leave from the B Shed in Freo. It takes about three hours to do the round trip to Perth, which sounds like a while but you hardly notice the time as the scenery is fantastic, and the drinks from the bar will keep the conversation flowing freely.

A short walk from where you depart the boat is the famous Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour. There are loads of great spots here, although for the purposes of this piece, I’m going to just pick one. Bathers Beach House is the new kid on the block having only opened in late 2014. It’s a bar restaurant, and as the name suggests, it sits right in front of the idyllic Bathers Beach. From here you have Fremantle on your doorstep, so it’s up to you to see where the day takes you.

I can’t finish this up without an honourable mention to my favourite pub in all of Perth. Okay, so I’m a bit biased ‘cause it’s my local, but The Leftbank is a bar café right on the river in East Freo. It’s one of the most consistently popular places in town, it’s open from 7am every day of the week, the food is good and reasonably priced, and they’ve got live music on the weekends.

So there you have it folks. I think I could write a hundred of these and still not get around to mentioning some of my favourite things to do in Perth! So feel free to try some of my suggestions, and don’t hesitate to take advantage of the comments section below and let us know your thoughts. Enjoy!
